I am fairly sure that the majority of webmasters would like to obtain very high rankings for their website. We each have a set of keywords or key phrases for our websites of which we would love to be ranking in that number one position as it could only have a positive effect on overall sales and profits. But how do we reach that golden first position in the search engines such as Google?

I run an SEO company here in England and for me there are three main areas of importance:

The coding of the site

Obtaining one-way backward links pointing to your website

For the purpose of this article I will be writing about the best ways to write the coding of the site.

The Title: I believe the title of the site should be a short sharp headline which explains in a nutshell exactly what you offer. It is also advisable to include the main keyword of the website within the title. As an example if you offer a DVD authoring service and your main key phrase is DVD authoring then a suitable title could be: Professional DVD authoring services

The Description: The description allows you to elaborate a little more than what you would on the “title”. I would choose around four or five of your main key phrases and attempt to include all of them within this description. For example if your in the foster care business the key phrases could be fostering, fostering services, foster care and foster care services this could be a good description: We provide fostering services for people in the UK. For more information about the foster care services we provide please feel free to call us on……?

The Keywords: Many people believe that Google no longer see the list of keywords as relevant; I always put a list of my main key phrases/keywords in there just in case.

Online Newspapers are Eco Friendly

Newspapers themselves are a dying breed. I have long wondered why I am inundated with ‘free’ newspapers through my door each week. These free publications serve no purpose and are littered with an antiquated form of advertising that we know to be ineffectual. So what is the purpose of wasting trees and other natural resources in creating newspapers when I can get the same content delivered to my iPhone or soon to be iPad? There is none.

I don’t agree with that. If you purchase The Times in the physical world, it doesn’t make sense at all for you not to buy The Times in the virtual world?

In fact if you do, you will be doing much more than keeping a journalist in a job, you will actively be helping to save the planet. Now surely that is something the whole of the newspaper industry and those who buy newspapers would want to be a part of.

Much as though I love the blogosphere, I am afraid it does not compensate for quality journalism and in my humble opinion the British newspaper industry does contain its fair share of quality journalists.It is true that many journalists have to ability to wind people up, but there are many commentators who are totally respected and really need to be at the forefront of delivery opinion. Obviously I could easily tap into a blog, but come on, it’s just not the same.
